PISD/SMU Family Counseling and Conflict Resolution

Plano ISD and Southern Methodist University (SMU) provide counseling and mediation services to Plano ISD staff, students and their families beginning in September 2019. With a mission to deliver developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive services to all clients, the clinic is located in the Cox Building located at 1517 H Ave., Plano, TX 75074.

PISD Substance Abuse Prevention

Did you know that one of the most concerning issues with vapes, e-cigarettes, etc., is that it is virtually impossible to visually recognize what is or isn’t inside of the vaping device. Most e-juices look similar (brown, tan, reddish oily consistency) and smell very sweet. The reality is most of these devices are obtained on the black market or online, virtually eliminating the ability to definitively identify the contents of any single vaping device and/or pod.

As adults, our first steps include sharing knowledge of this growing issue, keeping a close eye out at home and at school for these devices and sweet smells, staying up to date on available research and resources, and talking with our child(ren). Suicide Prevention Awareness

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness month. Counselors will be going into every grade level this month to give the district guidance on stress management, coping skills, and overall suicide prevention tips.
